The Shadow Light Apothecary

 Oils, Powders, Incenses, &
Other Potions

Here you will locate various potions of both the nature of being aqueous and dry.  This section will grow over time and in the process of such I wish to broaden the variety of items offered to the following:

Incense has a long history in the use of Magick and Religion. Incense has an advantage over other forms of cleansing because the smoke issuing forth from smoldering mixture of herbs, plant, and other natural ingredients can easily be used to infiltrate small areas of the house or the hard to reach spots of a house such as the corners of a ceiling. You might be asking why and that is a perfectly valid and understandable question. Incense is not simply an item to burn for a pleasing smell to waft throughout a room. As I stated earlier that incense has a long history in the use of religious and magickal/spiritual rituals and rites. One of the most common uses of incense in magick is to cleanse an area of unwanted vibrations or entities as is the case with the famously recognized use of sage.

Incense can also be used to invite certain entities or vibrations into an area or rather to purify it for the forthcoming invocations to such entities or deities. Incense can also be used as a means of instilling a certain vibration into an item. For example if you had a statue of the Greek goddess Hekate and burned an appropriate incense over the statue you are sanctifying that statue specifically to the goddess Hekate. This is also done by filling the statue with certain ingredients that are associated to that spirit/entity/deity so as to seat them into/with the statue. These ingredients as a whole are also known as the mysteries of the said entity.

Some of the information above relates strongly to religious use as well as magick. Another interesting concept of incense is that it is believed to carry your prayers up to Heaven. This belief can be seen in various faiths such as Taoism. In Hoodoo, which has a very strong Christian connection, incense is sometimes used to attract a specific Saint. Incense is also offered as an offering to spirits.

You can find incense in various different forms such as sticks, smudge sticks/bundles, cones, loose and self-igniting. Incense can also take the form of natural non-plant substances such pine resin or myrrh. Incense can then become a bit more interesting as some of the old classics suggest the use of various animal ingredients, but that use has, for the most part, become extinct or at least not publicly wide spread as far as I am aware. Herbal mixtures can also contain things such as wine, honey, resin, your own blood, and oil. Keep in mind that when incense mixtures contain these kind of ingredients its usually not in high amounts possibly with the exception of resin or honey, but these ingredients like alcohol or oil can become flammable!

A note of importance, aside from the above cautionary advice about certain items being flammable, is that incense doesn't always have to smell pretty to be effective. It is the ingredients and the energies present within that aid magickal and spiritual activities. Though sometimes incense is just incense which is NOT to say that scent is worthless when it comes to incense and other ingredients like Oils.

The Shadow Light Apothecary will be offering loose incense and over time self-igniting incense along with cones. Resins will also be offered in due time.

Oils are very interesting as there are various different types being sold throughout the world and on the Internet. Some can safely be used and others can only be used in a certain way. You wouldn't use a bottle of cooking oil as a replacement for motor oil would you? and vice versa! Grant it, motor oil and other car fluids aren't actively used in the magickal/spiritual application of oils, but something like motor oil can be effective, but be careful as motor oil can be dangerous if swallowed, gotten in your eyes, or close to a flame! Like with incense, Essential Oils are sold purely for their scent. Essential Oils are both unsafe for use on the skin and are flammable. If I use plant oils I would rather distill them myself or make sure they aren't toxic. This can become rather expensive and time consuming therefore using these oils as a majority in the making of oils is, for the most part, out of the question. What is left then? Base oils usually with Vitamin E oil are used instead. The most common household base oil is plain old vegetable oil, but other more potent oils are used such as olive, grapeseed, almond, and even coconut.

Some people prefer to make their oils appealing to the eye by straining out the excess plant matter which was used to make the oil or they don't even use plant matter to begin with, but others prefer to leave the bits and pieces of the appropriate ingredients in the oil. The method of leaving plant matter in the oil is recognized as a sign of keeping true to tradition in the practice and art of Hoodoo. Hoodoo Oils tend to contain more than herbs or leafs, but also roots and resins.

There is then the more unique oils that are more in align with the art of Alchemy and old school occult thought and magick. These menstruums tend to contain ingredients originating in all three Kingdoms: animalia, vegetabilia, and mineralia.

As for the oils that will be offered by the Shadow Light Apothecary, I will be offering the Hoodoo style oils and overtime the alchemically infused oils described above. In my long lasting desire to delve into the Alchemical sciences and arts I will, hopefully, one day be able to also offer my own distilled oils along side various other alchemical concoctions. I would like to add a little something I came realized sometime back about the word alchemy. The word al is also known as the Hebrew el which means God. Alchemy would then become the chemistry of God. This is rather fitting as the alchemist is playing god in the sense of creating or rather you could say that they are exploring the mysteries of creation in the laboratory.

Catherine Yronwode gives a good description in her online Hoodoo In Theory and Practice.

Powders do not always consist of the same ingredients and often take on different uses. Powders have been used to sprinkle the floor, around a house or person, on a person, in a persons face, in spell-work and charm bags etc.

  • Sachet Powders can either consist of dried flowers mixed with an appropriately according essential oil over time for the effect of smell or herbs combined in a base powder of cornstarch, flour, or talcum powder. It is the latter that is often sprinkled on floors or even added to the bath water, but that is more for bath salts which will be discussed later.
  • Organic Powders usually are simple enough, but often powerful allies in magick. These are powders that are made from certain animal ingredients such as eggshells and bones. There are, however, other animalia powders in various occult texts that would be seen only as grotesque today such as drying certain animal parts to use in the making of an incense or aqueous potion.
  • Herbal Powders even though the name suggests the use of only herbs these powders or mixtures in this case (not pulverized into a fine powder) can consist of just about any plant material imaginable. Generally they only consist of herbs, leafs, flower petals, and spice pods such as star anise among a few similar ingredients like flower buds. It is these mixtures that are used in the making of bath mixtures (dry and liquid kind) and sachet powders.
  • Non-Organic Powders are powders made from things that might be lying around the house, yard, or workshop such as red brick dust or metal filings.
  • Dirts are one of the more interesting powder as it is believed that the earth or an area absorbs the energies of whats going on around it. Graveyard dirt is probably the most commonly heard of dirt in magick which is misunderstood by some. Graveyard dirst and dust are often used synonymously, but the dust is taken from a tomb as in the dust that is literally sitting on the tomb itself. Graveyard dirt is bought, not taken, from just about anywhere in the cemetery depending on the working at hand. Other dirts include that of banks, gallows, and churches. Dirt can really come from just about anywhere really, but once again it depends on the working at hand.
  • Magickal Powders is referring powders that are made from various ingredients such as Hot Foot Powder having red pepper and sulfur or Goofer Dust having iron filings and black pepper among other ingredients obviously.
  • Salts are most definitely the easiest source of protection you can find just about anywhere for the majority of people. It seems that people only recognize common household salt which is also known as sodium chloride, but who calls it that? Aside from this there is rock salt (edible kind and the kind you use on sidewalks), kosher salt (which I personally prefer to household when it comes to taste, but if you have a Jewish twist to your magick Kosher is the way to go!), Sea Salt and a whole slew of culinary salts such as Himalayan pink salt. Aside from these types of salt there is also Black Salt which is a mixture of salt (generally it seems to be kosher salt or rock salt) and coal or charcoal. There is also Bath Salts which come in several different recipes, but they are primarily a mix of epsom salt, rock salt (edible! optional ingredient), and safe essential oils. Sometimes herbs and other floral ingredients are added if not also dye to make them more appealing.
  • Ash may just be one of those underused and under-recognized ingredients. Ash can consist of organic and non-organic materials. Human and animal bones are generally used when intact, but bone and crematory ashes have their uses I am sure. Plant ashes such as used incense remains or the ashes of a burnt charged seal. I can not take credit for these ideas as they came from two wonderful YouTubers: TheLadyGraveDancer and MrShadowBwoy, both of which can be found in the Links section of the Home Page.

Floor Washes are actually very versatile and can be applied to walls, ceilings, tables, counter-tops etc. Floor Washes are kind of like the liquid equivalent to sage smoke or anything cleansing incense. Washes are used in a similar way that a Besom or Witches Broom is used which is to sweep or swoosh out negativity and other unwanted forces. The idea behind this isn't that you have to cleanse yourself or area of work of negativity every so often, but rather you cleanse as a means of keeping negativity out. Grant it if you have a place of work then you can cleanse all you want, but unless have other safeguards against negativity in place and do your best to make sure negative people stay out if they just happen to wonder in, theres always going to be negative people.

Washes come in a variety of manners all the way from vinegar to plain old tap water. Some prefer to use fresh spring water or well water. The Shadow Light Apothecary will be offering both a vinegar base (apple-cider or plain old distilled white vinegar) and water based Washes.

Bath Products and Body Care or Beauty Products are as follows.

  • Herbal Bath Mixture are made with herbal ingredients regarding a specific intention such as cleansing, love, money etc. The herbs will be charged, but it is up to you to add your own bit of magick.
  • Bath Wash is like a Floor Wash in the sense that it has already been combined with water, charged, and ready to be used.
  • Bath Crystals/Salts have been discussed in short earlier as being primarily epsom salts and a scent. Any hand made products bought from me will be made with the utmost care and respect for the customer in mind!
  • Spiritual Soaps have the advantage of being used multiple times without the fear of running out anytime soon. All soaps are eventually going to be worked down into something that longer resembles a bar of soap, but they will last a lot longer than Bath Washes and Herbal Bath Mixtures. Once again, the inspiration to make spiritual soaps come from TheLadyGraveDancer.

Vinegars are potions made from a base of vinegar much like a tincture except that it is more like a floor wash which can be used in the making a floor wash. Vinegar is like salt in the sense that it can be used to work positive and negative magick. Probably the most famous vinegar of all is the Four Thieves Vinegar which has had much debate regarding the traditional ingredients used to make it. Vinegar can also be used in the making of Souring Jars.

Waters are actually one of the most common, but probably overlooked or over-thought substances. The most common water that is primarily used or recognized is Holy Water or water that has been blessed usually by a Catholic Priest, but it can be blessed by anyone really. If you apply your imagination you can probably use any kind of water for magick. Storm water, rain water, Well water, sea water, water from a stream etc. Things such as stagnate water can be used. I don't know how much of a water this would be, but some like urine can be used as can blood, spit, and tears.

 Pine Resin
Coming Soon!

This Pine Resin is acquired from a tree in my own backyard.

Pine Resin can be burned as an incense by itself or within a mixture of herbs and/or other resins. If used as an incense or in any other similar methods be careful and always make sure the area in which the incense/resin is burned is well ventilated or outside in an open area such as your back yard. Pine Resin can also be used in the making of Charms and Oils.

Pine resin is said to be useful in numerous applications such as creating a forested ambiance which can be very useful if you are unable to enter a forest or other center of nature that hasn't been overtaken by human industry and construction. Pine is also seen as a very masculine tree because of its phallic shape and possibly due to the analogy that can be made between men and pine cones if you get my point. This along with the Forest aspect makes Pine an excellent candidate for the use of anything related to the Witch Father or more commonly known as the Horned One/God.

Possibly the best known attribute of Pine in general is it's ability to cleanse an area which you can sometimes find pine, in one form or another if not cedar, mixed in with sage. The Pine Tree is an Evergreen and when you apply that to magick you begin to see all kinds of possibility. This includes prosperity because as the needles of the tree remain intact and green through the winter months so would your prosperity.

DISCLAIMER: Always remember to burn incense of any kind include resins within a well ventilated area or outside in an open clear area. This item is sold as a curio and I make no claims for it.

Cascarilla

Coming Soon!

White Egg Shell Powder a.k.a Cascarilla is probably one of those ingredients most witches and other spiritual practitioners overlook unless you are involved in a practice that utilizes this wonderful ingredient such as Curanderismo and Santeria.

Cascarilla is simply crushed and powdered egg shells. This is often used as a safe and inexpensive source of calcium for animals such as dogs since the powder can be mixed right into their moist food and it doesn't give of that medicine taste that all children have learned to avoid at all costs! We learned to take our medicine though because in the long run it is good for us... well, it depends on the manufacture of the medicine and if any harmful ingredients went into it or not.

Cacarilla is another good item for cleansing and protection. You can add it to your spiritual bath with a splash of Florida Water for a simple cleansing. It can all be used to draw out sigils on the floor or ground outside. It is natural and used in compost therefore you wouldn't be harming the natural world by using this item for such purposes.

It is also important to note that the Egg itself symbolizes fertility, protection because it is protecting the chick inside, and purity because of its whiteness.

DISCLAIMER: This item is a powder so make sure not to hold it close to your face or the face of anyone else, child, or animal as the powder will waft up out of its container like smoke or dust. This item is sold as a curio and I make no claims for it.

~ Spiritual Herb Baths ~

The Spiritual Baths that the Shadow Light Apothecary offers will come in the form of dried to fresh herbs (mixed if any fresh herbs). The Three Herb Love Bath does not qualify as a SLA Brand per se because it is a widely recognized mix of herbs or rather flowers. The Open Roads To Love Bath is the one that qualifies as a SLA Brand because as far as I am aware there is no other similar mix of herbs out there plus its a specialty blend. With that being said a CAUTIONARY word would be to be careful when using any of these baths if you think you might be allergic or have irritable skin etc. I try to keep these blends as skin friendly as possible so needless to say I would be weary to add something like cinnamon sticks to it! If you have any concerns just ask and if I can or willing to answer your questions I will. If you are concerned about allergies then feel free to ask if your bath of choice has this herb or that herb in it etc.

All Spiritual Bath blends are mixed by hand on a Friday and in the Hour of Venus (since there is currently no other bath blends available). The mix will be Enchanted or otherwise prayed over asking Dame Venus or a specific Saint/Angel to infuse this bath blend with the qualities of love, joy, pleasure, and happiness etc.

~ Love ~

~ Three Herb Love Bath - $15

This is your basic herbal bath mix for attracting Love: Jasmine, Rose, and Lavender. You will receive instructions on how to prepare the path along with a zip-lock bag containing enough of the mix for three uses.

~ Open Roads To Love Bath - $18

This spiritual bath is designed to open your roads to Love. Similar to and is basically a Road Opening Bath just primarily with Love in mind. This is a multi-herb blend of which you will receive enough for three uses. Instructions included.

Charms, Talismans, &
Other Witch-Crafts

Here you will locate various items of a sorcerous nature and other witch-crafts. This section, like all other sections of this site, will grow in due time.

Charm Bags or at least what is commonly recognized today as a "charm bag" ranges from several different Magickal, Spiritual, and Religious systems such as Witchcraft and Hoodoo which alone may pose similar traits, but are also very different when it comes to the structure of their system.

Hoodoo's foundation appears to be strongly rooted in Africa. When this system developed itself in the South with the Slave Trade (I have heard that Hoodoo actually got its start before America) it had adopted various aspects of European magick (such as Solomonic magick which makes perfect sense seeing how Hoodoo, being Christian, is centered around the Holy Bible) and Folklore including aspects of certain Native American tribes.

This system has its own version of the Charm Bag which has several different names and differ in several ways from each other. That which is offered here is a Mojo Bag. Check this site out for more on the Mojo Bag & Hoodoo.

http://www.luckymojo.com/mojo.html

One of the major components in the construction of a Mojo Bag is Prayer. Don't doubt the Power of Prayer just because your not Christian or even religious because Prayer can pack pack quite a wallop! It is said that Christians don't use spells, but the truth is that Prayer is a spell. You just have to understand that a spell isn't the same thing as spewing forth diabolical incantations to bind someone against their Will or to cause a disastrous storm in the Devil's name!

Spells are like magick in the sense that magick is neutral. It is the intent of the Worker that makes their spell or ritual positive or negative. Even if someone does a spell or ritual to kill a dictator such as Hitler or Husein it doesn't automatically make all magick evil.

Prayer is not the only thing that goes into a Mojo Bag. Traditionally there were only three elements outside of the Greeks: Earth, Air, and Water. Fire was seen also as Spirit. The number 3 has played a major throughout the world of the Occult and religion. Hoodoo also makes use of the number 3. Traditionally you only add an odd number of ingredients to the bag which, according to Lucky Mojo, is usually 3, 7, or 9. The 3 and the 7 are very mysterious numbers on their own and 9 is said to be used for Mastery over something. In Hoodoo the number 3 takes on more than the above as Hoodoo is known for or at least should be known for not only its use of Roots (i.e. Devil's Shoe String, John the Conqueror, Queen Elizabeth Root, and Gravel Root to name a few) and obviously herbs, but also the variety of curios. A Mojo Bag can be with an herb, root, and a mineral. Salt isn't the only mineral in magick! Things like bluing balls, sulfur, and even coins such as a Silver Mercury Dime or Buffalo Headed Coins. Curios don't just end there, but for more information on curios check out this pages section of the same name. The ingredients will vary and the contents of the bag will not always consist of plant material,

Conjure Bags which are also known as Mojo Bags will be made with red flannel bags I make myself which will vary in size. You can find a couple of pictures showing the size down below. They will be triple looped at the top with white string in the name of the Trinity. The ingredients used will vary according to what the bag is made for which is to say that not all of these Conjure Bags will be the same. Some may consist of a combination of root and mineral or herb and mineral etc.

The Conjure Bags offered here at the Shadow Light Apothecary will only be made upon request rather than made in advance. The bags will be charged for a certain number of days in conjunction with a particular Saint, Angel, and/or Christ being asked for aid. I use my intuition when I do work. You will also receive a small container of oil that you will use to feed the Bag.

Charm Bags made in accordance with Traditional Witchcraft will also be offered. They differ from the below Witch Bag in the sense that the latter is more of a specialty item. These Charm Bags will be made with red flannel and as time goes on I will experiment with other materials.

Witch Bags on the other hand are made via Witchcraft. These bags are specifically made in a certain manner according to certain aspects of Traditional Witchcraft utilizing the Housle also known as the Red Meal. These Witch Bags differ from the Mojo Bags and other bags that I know of because their construction incorporates certain symbols, which have been traced onto the Chamois with Dragon's Blood Ink or other appropriate ink, which are used to empower the Bag. The items used for the bag are far and wide - some of which will remain a secret. This is one of the reasons for their price.

The Chamois is used partially because of creative inspiration and secondly, possibly firstly, because of it's Goat associations. The Witchfather is often seen as a Goat as is the Devil which is said to be the Master of Witchcraft. The chamois bag will be tied/looped with jute twine or white string if you so wish. In time I am thinking about adding colored meanings to the bags and the strings used, but I am not sure. Like with the Conjure Bags, these Witch Bags will only be made upon request and charged for a certain number of days on my working altar.

For various reasons I will clarify that these Witch Bags are NOT Wiccan nor Neo-Pagan and that these charms are NOT made in the name of Satan as seen by Christianity! The Witchfather is seen as the Devil by some including myself, but when I think of the Devil I do not see an embodiment of pure evil that tortures sinners for all of eternity! Though the way I and many others view the Witchfather will obviously seem demonic to others. The fact of the matter is that the Witchfather as the Devil has more in common with the Devil of Folklore than the Devil of Christianity.

A final note on these Witch Bags is that the ingredients used for some of these bags may be considered to be a little too macabre for some, but understood and welcomed by others. With these bags my aim is to produce something very old school. These old school items are the real treasures to make for this shop, but with all good things patience is a virtue.

All charms are sold as curios and I do not make any guarantees.

The pictures below show the average size of my hand-made flannel and chamois bags which I use for Charm, Conjure, and Witch Bags. In the picture on the left you can see a quarter and in both pictures there is a standard deck of playing cards. If you wish to have a bag that is bigger then you can contact me where we will discuss it. If you prefer to have your mojo bag made in the manner of a flat piece of fabric, ingredients placed in the center, then strung (as stated above, I loop the string thrice in the name of the Holy Trinity) then feel free to contact me.

Poppet Work
& Voodoo Dolls

The use of dolls and poppets in magick is another very old practice. There is, of course, debate about whether if certain misconceptions are valid as misconceptions or not. I have never actually taken up a properly prepared doll representing someone and stuck pins into it, but given my understanding of magick I can certainly understand how and why it would work.

Before I go deeper into this idea I would like to state that the Voodoo Doll itself as a concept given to us by the media may not actually exist within Haitian Vodou, but does not stray far from various African practices. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica the word Vodou means spirit or deity in the Fon Language. This would then give the Voodoo or Vodou Doll a more proper meaning in the sense of what it actually is meant to be which is a Spirit Doll

The idea is that when the Doll is made in a ritual setting and has been either situated with the personal concerns of the person the doll will represent or has been psychically connected to the person (most times the doll will be baptized in that person's name), the worker will begin to see the doll as that person. Stronger the connection is, the more potent the actions of the worker will be. You know the saying about how it is easier to do evil than it is to do good? Perfect example! If the doll is constructed out of hatred, the pins going into the doll will be acting as wasp stingers full of your vile intentions. It would take some pretty potent mojo to inflict such malevolent juju on someone! Yeah, that was a bit cliche! lol

There is so much more to the use of poppets and dolls in magick. Aside from the pin-sticking method, these dolls are often used to house spirits of the dead (related and non-related), to invite a specific entity such as an Orisha of Santeria or a planetary force. The Planetary Dolls are more of a representative upon the altar of a specific Planet. Sometimes you will attract something more than what your intention was meaning that your intention might be to seat a doll with the spirit of a planet when you, instead, get greeted by an angelic force or deity in accordance with that planet if not a guiding spirit!

First and foremost we can not forget that dolls were used as miniature representations of a person whether if the intention of the worker is to cause harm or to aid in healing. Maybe to control someone from committing a regrettable action or to entice someone into doing something specific. They say the Lord works in mysterious ways... well, magick does too!

Planetary Dolls currently fall under the category of being a specialty item. They will take time to complete as it is crucial to their very nature that work on them should begin and consist purely of an appropriate time. This means if I began work on a Venusian Doll I would start working on it during the Hour of Venus upon the Day of Venus being a Friday. Time and effort certainly go into making these dolls and I do NOT smile at the thought of giving my customers something less than that which I can produce which may not be the best product in the world, but when it comes to crafting magickal goods, it really is the thought that counts! The observance of the Moon Phase is also important as certain times are more ideal for one thing or the other. When it comes to the Moon, things aren't just painted in black and white. Generally the Waxing (Increasing - leading up to the Full Moon) is ideal for growth, healing, attraction and positive endeavors. Waning (Decreasing - leading away from the Full Moon) is usually ideal for the exact opposite: repelling and banishing, but it is also an ideal time for negative workings.

The Full Moon is a time when the Moon is at Her peak and is an excellent time for magick in general! The Dark Moon itself is said to be a great time for darker forms of magick, but for the most part it seems to be a time of entering the Underworld so to speak. The Moon Phase will be observed in the making of each doll especially if the doll is Lunar in nature. If at all possible the doll will then be made during the Full Moon or previously made at the appropriate time then left to bathe in the moonlight.

According to Agrippa there are beneficial and baleful qualities to the planets. If Venus can induce fertility then She can also cause infertility in women or barrenness in men. I always saw it differently, but we all must learn and accept theories whether if they are old or new to us. To me it would seem that whereas Venus is called on for fertility you would call on Saturn for infertility - crops failing etc. Wouldn't it make sense that Saturn would be able to induce infertility or rather stop the production of life? Saturn is, after all, associated with Death, Time, and Reaping... Grimm Reaper. On the other hand it would seem that Saturn would cause a stillbirth, but I suppose that would depend on whether if the woman was already pregnant or not at the time of the working. Just for your information I do NOT condone nor do I advocate the act of feticide nor infanticide via magickal/spiritual means nor physical action! I shouldn't even have to say that, but you just don't know what kind of wack jobs are out there not to mention that some people will go to very extreme lengths to get back at some that did them wrong etc!

A great article to check out in regards to the use of planetary hours and days in magick is The Power of Stars and Herbs by Nicholaj de Mattos Frisvold.

Once the select planet is chosen, the ingredients will be gathered and prayed prayed over. I prefer to add as much corresponding quality as possible, but this is not always possible. For example, I make the dolls in the style of a Voodoo Doll which is done by crossing a pair of sticks to form the frame or body of the doll prior to adding the Spanish Moss etc. If I am going to make a Saturnian doll then I would prefer to use an appropriate corresponding tree such or plant stem such as Yew or Blackthorn. The doll will then be wrapped with the aforementioned Spanish Moss and tied to keep the moss in place.

The mossy doll will then be filled with appropriate herbs and/or curios, anointed and smoked or passed through an appropriate incense. I will then wrap it in an appropriate color cloth (primarily flannel, but if you prefer another fabric feel free to ask) and tie it up once again. Once again I will anoint it, smoke it, and dust it with the appropriate items. Pray over it, invite the planetary spirit/energy in and decorate it mildly - giving it eyes and a mouth etc. If you wish to have additional items added then email me and we will discuss it.  If there is a specific quality associated with the planet your doll is being made in accordance with that you want the doll is focus on let me know before placing your order.

Intention Specific Dolls are exactly like the planetary dolls except these ones will be made specifically for money, love, protect, healing etc.

Cloth Poppets are your basic everyday cloth poppet. They can be made into a Planetary Doll or made for a specific reason such as the Intention Specific Dolls. They will be filled with spanish moss and/or herb matter (stems, roots, berries, leaves, petals etc) depending on the reason for the doll and the herbs being used.

~ Charm To Increase His Sex Drive - $35

This uniquely made charm was inspired by the African Tradition Religions, but is not made via those systems. One of the things that makes these SLA Specialty Items is that they are unique unto this shop. This doesn't mean that I claim complete ownership over the idea surrounding this items, but that they were created out of inspiration from... well, the Ancestors, the Spirits, etc.

The base structure of this charm is a walnut shell which is reminiscent of a testicle which would normally be replaced with a John, the Conqueror root in Hoodoo. The Walnut is probably first and fore mostly known for representing the brain making the shell representative of a skull similar to the idea that a Coconut is used in spellwork to represent the Head of a person. This make the walnut a perfect candidate for a magickal charm intended to arouse someone. It represents both the testicle and the brain relating to the psychological influence that leads to the physiological occurrence being sought after.

Whereas this charm is directed towards men and their libido towards woman doesn't exclude the fact that this charm can be used by homosexual men. In fact the man doesn't even have to know about this charm meaning that it could be the woman or recipient man using the charm to attract their limp or timid lover into a bed full of passion! This means that this charm can easily be placed into the category of Domination Work, but it all depends on how you use it - with the man knowing or behind their back.

To effectuate the actual enticement towards a woman comes in the place of the Cowrie shell which resembles the vagina... with teeth, but imagine that parts not there! In Hoodoo, the opposite of a John, the Conqueror root would be a Queen Elizabeth root which is used to represent the female. This charm can be altered towards being a fertility charm hence the interest some might have in the following charm down below.

To effectuate the enticement towards another man a small phallic image or shell etc. can be used. Hoodoo isn't an ATR, but it does have strong African roots. So, keeping in tradition, the Raccoon Penis Bone would be too big to use in a charm like this, but some Lavender anointed chips of John the Conqueror root or a small enough root should do the job. Queen Elizabeth root could be used, but once again the ideal purpose and symbolism is sexual in nature. The Cowrie represents the vagina and the John the Conqueror root represents the testicles.

This charm would then be worked further adding certain herb(s) and using certain oil(s) etc. One last ingredient that I will include in this description is Pine Resin. No subtlety there! The Pine is an Evergreen which means that it remains green or alive during the entire year even the Winter. Further more these trees tend to carry a rather phallic resemblance... in the charm symbolism, an erection. Yule like Christmas has a notion of Life which can be seen in the myriad array of Green & Red. Green for Mother Earth or Spring and Red for blood being viewed in the ancient days as the Life Force. These colors are also seen within the mystical MistletoeHolly, and Yew

Interestingly enough, the Mistletoe berries contain a semen like juice which can you deny the further symbolism of Life? Red could be representing the Blood of Christ whether if it was the blood shed by Mary during the birth of Christ or the blood shed by Christ before and during the Crucifixion. Holly is known as the Crown of Thorns, but also as Bat Wings. Yule is also a time to remember the Ancestors and therefore, Death which relates to Yew.

As far person concerns are concerned unless the client is present the charm will have to be completed with the inclusion of a certain bodily concern preferably a bodily fluid. Preferably there should be some hair (from the head, genitals or both), blood, or semen added to the actual ingredients being added to the walnut, but if the client isn't present, no big deal. The charm needs to be connected to the man in some way (meaning that any personal concern can be used, but preferably those mentioned above or something that has come into contact with his genitals such as underwear) then the Cowrie shell itself must be anointed or otherwise attuned to the energies of the woman or man.

Preferably masturbatory fluids of the woman during either the Day and Hour of Venus, the Waxing Moon, or the Full Moon. The woman should be making herself excited about having her man in bed again pleasing her all night long etc. Really put your heart and soul into it so as to really put your desires into the charm. You will want to have the charm near you and if at all possible keep it as close to your vagina as possible so that the charm can become anointed

~ Maleficient Charm to Induce/Cause Infertility/Barrenness - $35

This charm is very similar to the walnut charm above, just with a few different ingredients. If you are interested in this item, I would suggest reading about the charm above.

This charm is very similar, but it is also different in the sense that this charm, being a product of Maleficia, is intended to be used by a jealous or spiteful lover etc. The symbolism behind it is, "I got your nuts in a sack!" implying that the witch* has control over the man specifically in the area of reproduction. The charm can further be used to affect the mans libido hence, once again, the similarity that this charm has with the one above. They are practically opposites of each other since the charm above can be used as a fertility charm with some altercations made to it. As they say, its easier to do evil than good.

Now, if the charm is meant to affect a woman then the symbolism would be slightly different, but I suppose you could say something like, "I got your ovaries in a sack!" but somehow that just doesn't sound right nor healthy on any level! Thats saying something since I'm a guy and y'all know how we men folk cherish our jewels!

The sack isn't really a part of the womans charm. The walnut shell (specifically a black walnut) would still be used because aside from the testicular resemblance it is still iconic of the skull and therefore the mind. Grant it, the walnut itself (nut meat... no pun intended) is iconic of the brain while the shell logically becomes symbolic of the skull. Infertility isn't really affected by psychological means (as far as I am aware that is, but I am not a doctor!) like erectile dysfunction which isn't always psychological, but has more to do with the psyche than something as serious as infertility. Not to sound insensitive, but erectile dysfunction can be helped (I am NOT a doctor!). This means that the walnut itself isn't absolutely necessary plus the shell doubles as a symbolic womb obviously replacing the cowrie shell in this since, but give the overall imagery of the cowrie shell it is still included. Therefore the shell is also used simply as a containment unit of sorts, but not without virtue even if its is malefic in nature.

Let us keep in mind that not all workings of a dark nature are done out of spite etc. Sometimes people deserve what they get and we as Witches can't just sit around and wait on Karma to do it! I am not knocking the idea of Karma nor the people that believe in it, but sometimes action speaks louder than words. Sometimes these forces (Karma, God, the Lord, the Gods, Fate etc) act through us and sometimes its probably just a matter of dealing with it yourself because maybe, just maybe, that is the way its meant to be, to happen!

*Witch can be a term used to describe a woman that has crossed a boundary and has become so spiteful as to imply a serious transformation. An almost demonic or vampyric nature. Vampyre is also a term used to describe a very spiteful woman that has crossed a boundary. Similar to the idea of the Lilitu, Streghe, Lamia etc.

~ Sachets & Pouches ~

Coming Soon!

Sachets are generally small bags filled with strongly scented herbs or flower petals and sometimes with an addition of essential oil to prolong the life of the sachet or in other words the essential oil makes the scent of the sachet last longer. Needless to say that it is the Power of Scent/Smell that makes the sachet a sachet. Magickally speaking sachets are excellent charms for Love, Romance, and Excitement.

Since there is a psycho-chemical reaction when we smell things whether if they are bad or good, sachets are also very good for any form of magick intended to affect a person's mood. When you smell nice things do you feel sad or happy? Or something else, but definitely not bad? Sachets can be used to remind a person of happiness etc. If you want a sachet to help combat depression then its not all about using an herb(s) that promotes happiness as much as incorporating you into the mix. If Lavender or Lilac pleases you and makes you smile then it wouldn't do much good to use any other herb(s). This isn't always the case as they these are still charms and certain herbs still have a spirit of their own designated towards a certain goal.

Herb Pouches or Altar Pouches are similar to sachets except they are intended to sit upon the altar or  anywhere else and attract a specific spirit or allow for calm/peace in the household etc.

 Herbs & Other
Natural Curios

The anatomy of a magickal act can be very simple or very in-depth. First and foremost the power behind your magickal workings is considered to be either the mind, deity/spirit, or soul if not all of the above. I personally believe that the Power comes partially from our Soul which is intimately connected to our Mind which can in-turn be utilized to cause change in the world in more than one way. Some would say that the Consciousness is a gift from Deity or a governing spirit. For me the Soul is Divine or more accurately in my belief the Soul is structured around the Divine Spark and yet the Soul is the Divine Spark therefore when we work magick we are connecting and working with, in a sense, Deity. You could say that the Witch or other magickian is not playing God, but rather is applying their own Divine abilities in life to achieve a certain goal therefore appearing god-like to some.

This is not the whole equation when it comes to the source power of magick because the World isn't just made up of humans. There are animals, plants, and other forces of nature. What about Fire? Fire isn't human, animal (even though humans are technically animals), or plant. Fire has... well, a fire about it which was considered to be Spirit in the past opposed to the four element concept of the Greeks with Spirit being the fifth. There are more elements than just Spirit, Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Everything in existence has an essence even plants. Grant it some plants are more suitable for Witchcraft than others, but everything has a life. Life force is what makes the world go around.

The Serpent of the Land is said to be the energy flow of life itself. When you sense the vibrations of within the Land you are sensing the Serpent. You know people say that Satan is the God of this World and that it was Satan that tricked Eve into eating of the Forbidden Fruit? What if the Serpent in the Garden was actually the Serpent of the Land/Garden speaking to Eve? Why Eve? She is a woman and would naturally have more in common with the Land in some views. What of the Kundalini (aspect of Shakti - Cosmic Feminine Principle)? It is probably more than a coincidence that Women are the ones usually depicted as Witches and that it was Women (Duaghters of Man) that (in)advertently seduced the Grigori better known as the Watchers!

The Witch or other magickal worker will utilize the inherent properties and energies of plants and other natural curios to aid in their workings. Some see it as simple properties and others see it as spirits of specific plants and places. Everything has Spirit. The Witch knows how to connect with these energies just as they know how to make contact with different realms: Above, Below, Middle etc.

Certain ingredients have specific energies attached to them through the place they grow or can be found. The Hand of Glory was the hand of a hanged man which presumably was a thieve and lends a hand to the obvious use of such a gruesome charm.

~Dead Rose Bushes ~
$7.00

Magick is neutral when it comes to what we call Good and Evil. Magick is without color, but when the witch adds a specific intention to their conjuration things change. When someone casts a love spell it doesn't mean that magick throughout the universe instantly or gradually becomes love oriented. When you cast a spell, perform a ritual, or otherwise use magick you are not dipping your hand into the source of all magick! Magick is neutral until the Witch or magickian adds their intention.

Magick is a part of the flow of nature therefore things that we might see as being evil or disastrous are nothing more than aspects of nature sometimes with a divine package attached. Some say that it is a crime against nature to commit suicide and/or to commit murder while others see it differently. If you want to refrain from using curses then that is completely understandable! I don't know of anything that says that you have to curse people to be a witch... unless of course your ignorant know-it-all filled with the Pious Wine of Wrath!

Now, with that being said these Rose Bushes were some that I planted, but for whatever reason never grew. This was several years ago and I decided to hold onto them in case they might come in handy. Originally I was going to save them to add to spell kits, but I will go ahead and add them here. If they have not sold over time and I acquire the items needed I will replace this with the said spell kit.

The use of dead rose bushes are not something I have ever heard of before, but witchcraft is all about innovation. First, off I really don't think the ideal usage for a dead rose bush is love magick though love does come to mind. I would imagine that these curios are excellent in break-up spells and spells designed to negatively affect an ex-lover or simply an ex-partner.

You could completely look past the rose aspect and use this in a similar manner to a mirror box which is what the above idea was centered around. You could make a poppet representing and connected to a certain person then tying it to one of the prickly stems or laying it down inside the stems creating  a kind of coffin.

One final thing I thought about using the the rose bush for is to create a small altar out of it specifically designed for black magick or simply Maleficium also known as malevolent sorcery. Of course this could be used to justly punish wrong-doers as well.

DISCLAIMER: This item(s) has thorns still on it which are still sharp and pointy! Take caution as I will not be held responsible for any kind of damage or injury as a result of this item(s)! This item(s) is sold as a curio and I make no claims.
